zach ballard, drummer - Jasmine Cain
We asked Zach a little about how he got into drumming and what he loves about it: Q. What drumming technique/style do you use? A. As far as my style goes I use match grip... And I tend to be a very heavy hitter... I consider myself a rock drummer first and foremost and for most of the gigs I do it's all about power and groove. I'm primarily a self-taught drummer and I don't have a lot of educate on proper techniques but I can say it is important to play as relaxed as possible even if you're hitting us hard as you can you want to always try to do that in the most relaxed way possible Q. How did you get into drumming? A. I got into drumming when I saw a motley Crue video at about 12 years old and I saw Tommy Lee playing... I had never seen anybody make an instrument look that cool or fun and I immediately wanted to be a drummer! Later I got into other drummers but it was Tommy and the attitude that he played with that got me into the drums. Q How did your band form? A. The band I play with now Jasmine Cain is a touring Rock Band that is widely popular in the motorcycle rally circuit ..... We do in excess of 150 shows a year all over the country. The way I got into this band was word-of-mouth and having met Jasmin at some events I was playing earlier in life on the road... We both live in Nashville TN and at some point she needed a drummer and I needed a new gig and that's how that happened. Q. What is the best and worst part about playing on the road/tour? A. I love the road.. I've been on the road playing music the last 12 years of my life and I cant imagine myself doing anything different... The highlight for me is the show ,being onstage playing my drums for people. The worst part of the road is missing events that happen at home primarily family events birthdays anniversaries family get-togethers etc. Q. Do you use your custom drumsticks for merch, playing or both? A. I use my foxy drummer 2b sticks to play shows exclusively .... I love these sticks and they will hold up to some serious abuse I promise. Zach rocks with Foxy's 2B longs: wooden tip; L=17" D=.585" personalized drumsticks For more information on Zach, please visit:
